Who it suits

A group that wants to look straight onto the 1st and 18th fairways and be in the town. The Links Townhouse has four en-suite bedrooms and sleeps eight.

• Good for

  Views of the 1st and 18th, a rooftop putting green, and four places to eat and drink.

• Less good for

  Getting on the Old Course: the concierge books other courses but not the Old Course, which is by ballot. No spa.

• Our tip

  For course views, book a Links room, a Swilcan room with a balcony, or the 18th View Deluxe Suite. Rusacks Double rooms face the avenue or courtyard.
